A GALAXY WITH AN ADVANTAGE OVER OTHERS: NGC 4753

NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has captured an image of a lenticular galaxy with an elliptical shape seen from its edge and lacking prominent spiral arms. This galaxy is located about 60 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Virgo.

It is estimated to have formed about 1.3 billion years ago as a result of a merger with a nearby galaxy. The prominent dust lanes at its centre may be the result of this cosmic collision.

Image description:

The lenticular galaxy NGC 4753 is conspicuous for the dark brown dust bands surrounding its bright white nucleus. In the background, faint stars are scattered, cloaked in a white glow.

Doesn't it look like the rope prints we made when we were kids?
