Ceku, if you're ready, let's go honey! It's time to take a journey through our cosmic neighbourhood guided by NASA Hubble Space Telescope!
Until 30 August, get ready to participate in #MeetYourCosmicNeighbours, where NASA's Hubble Space Telescope will share new images of nearby galaxies and cosmic objects.
N11 is first in line! This newly released image reveals a region of bubbly stars located in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), a dwarf galaxy orbiting the Milky Way, about 160,000 light-years away.
The clouds of gas, which look like cotton candy, are ionised by young massive stars, giving the complex a cherry-pink hue.
Because it is one of the most energetic regions of the LMC, astronomers used the Hubble Telescope to study various parts of this dynamic environment.

Glowing clouds of pink and red gas and dust fill the split image. Stars in the foreground glow with diffraction spikes, and more distant stars fill the background.
