NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick has been living on the International Space Station (@ISS) for nearly four months. Dominick, commander of NASA's SpaceX Crew-8 mission, was sent to the ISS on 3 March 2024, along with Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin and I Michael Barratt and Jeanette Epps.
Recently, Dominick took this spectacular photo of the moonrise from the orbiting laboratory. He described the scene as follows: "The moon seems to be rising through the night clouds and looking out to the horizon, waiting for the coming sunrise."
Experiments carried out aboard the ISS are laying the scientific foundations for sustaining life on another planet. Research on the ISS paves the way for #Artemis missions to the Moon.

The crescent-shaped Moon rises above the Earth's ocean-blue atmosphere. Layers of orange and black are visible beneath the horizontal blue band running through the centre of the image. The crescent is white and stands out in the darkness of space.
