Located in the constellation Cetus, about 30 million light-years away, UGC 695 is a low surface brightness galaxy. Such galaxies are very faint; their brightness is even lower than the background brightness of Earth's atmosphere, making them very difficult to observe.
The reason for this faintness is the small number of stars in the galaxy, which are spread out over a large area.
