30 years ago, Hubble's Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2 was installed. This camera is known for providing a clear and spectacular view of the universe, as it does here.
WFPC2 corrected the first error in Hubble's primary mirror that caused the telescope's images to blur. This camera, built at NASAAJPL, captured more than 135,000 breathtaking images of our universe. And it has produced clear and spectacular images of the universe. I wanted to share three of my favourites with you.
This image Hourglass Nebula. This image shows rings of glowing orange gas surrounding a central point that looks like a green eye.
This image: NGC 7009. This image shows a bright nebula roughly shaped like a rolled up candy. The nebula is green, yellow and orange with a purplish point of light at its centre.
This image: Hubble Deep Field. This image shows several points of light against black space, each a galaxy varying in hues such as yellow, red and white.
Which one is your favourite? I like this one.
