A name is being sent to our Europa Clipper spacecraft, which will travel 1.8 billion miles (2.9 billion km) to study Jupiter's oceanic moon in the image. You have until 31 December 2023 to sign up. You can create your galactic gift for Christmas by going to this address.
Scientists are almost certain that beneath Europa's ever-changing icy crust lies a vast brine ocean containing almost twice as much water as Earth's oceans. With its thin oxygen atmosphere and abundant water, Europa is considered one of the best places to look for life in our solar system. Europa Clipper, scheduled for launch in 2024, will enter the satellite's orbit in 2030 and the spacecraft will search for the basic elements of life as we know it.

Half of Europa is visible, with its poles partially obscured to the left and right of the image. Its white and blue surface gives way to rust-coloured stripes cutting across its icy crust.
