"I'M NOT YOUR AVERAGE MONTH": GANYMEDE

Meet Ganymede - a gigantic moon orbiting a giant planet. Dwarfing even Pluto and Mercury, Ganymede is the largest moon in the solar system. Although it is one of Jupiter's dozens of moons, there are many features that make it special.

"I'M NOT YOUR AVERAGE MONTH": GANYMEDE

Here are some of the reasons that make Ganymede special:

There is strong evidence of a salty ocean beneath its surface, which may contain more water than the water on Earth's surface.

It is thought to have a thin oxygen atmosphere.

It is the only satellite known to have a magnetic field.

It may have the potential to harbor life.
