The Ghost Head Nebula is located 168,000 light-years away.
This #HubbleClassic image reveals a dense region of star formation. The two ‘eyes’ in the ghost's ‘head’ glow bright white in a glowing yellow void: they are very hot and glowing droplets of hydrogen and oxygen.
Hubble's high resolution allowed astronomers to study in detail various features in the nebula to better understand the processes by which massive stars form in this interesting region.

A bright void of pale yellow gas, surrounded by dark brown and reddish clouds, with a vertical green plume to the left. Two white dots, almost like a pair of eyes, glow in the cavity.
Does he look like a ghost to you? Hello, Casper!
