This galaxy, known as NGC 1569, is classified as a "starburst" galaxy, meaning it is forming new stars at an extraordinary rate. One of our most active galactic neighbours, NGC 1569 is only 11 million light years away.
This galaxy has been producing stars at a rate 100 times faster than our Milky Way Galaxy for about 100 million years.
The #HubbleClassic image clearly shows massive star clusters, each containing more than a million stars.
