Although it is estimated that the Universe is home to around 2 trillion galaxies, the Milky Way is the only galaxy known to harbor life so far.
The Milky Way is about 100 thousand light years in diameter and contains about 200 billion stars in its two spiral arms. The sun and the solar system are located midway to the center of this galaxy. If you are far away from the city lights, you can see the Milky Way brightly visible in the night sky.
This mesmerizing view of the Milky Way was captured by @nationalparkservice at Dinosaur National Monument in Colorado and Utah.

A series of low hills are silhouetted in the lower part of the image, while just above them are low clouds colored yellow by the moonlight. The sky is covered with stars and the Milky Way stretches from top to bottom along the right side of the image.
