As the weather cools in the Northern Hemisphere, the Moon will close with the Pleiades star cluster early in the month before moving into the neighbourhood of Venus on 10 October. The Moon will then be seen in conjunction with Saturn, providing good telescope viewing opportunities. Towards the end of the month, October's full moon will rise and Jupiter will be the two brightest objects in the sky.
On 14 October, an annular solar eclipse in the form of a "ring of fire" awaits us. It will pass over parts of South, Central and North America. If only we could watch it...
