In Albinism, which is a hereditary disease caused by the absence or scarcity of melanin pigment, especially the eyes, skin and hair are affected. Albinos have been the target of various prejudices and superstitions in both ancient and modern societies, and many negative myths have been made about them.
In many ancient cultures, it was believed that women giving birth to albino children had sexual relations with fairies. Even today, in some societies, it is believed that albinos are associated with supernatural powers or they are cursed, and they are made the target of terrible practices.
In Tanzania alone, more than 50 albinos were killed between March 2007 and November 2008, and their body parts were used by tribal magicians called witch doctors to bring healing or prosperity or to protect against the evil eye, and the tombs of self-deceased albinos were looted for the same reasons. In Zimbabwe, it is believed that having sexual intercourse with albinos brings healing, so they are forced to be with people who have incurable diseases, especially those with HIV, or are raped.
ANIMALS WITH ALBINO SPIRIT
In North American Indian Mythology, it was taboo to hunt albino animals in almost all continents, and it was believed that the hunter would be cursed and lost his hunting ability and even die as soon as possible.
