Ravana, the demon king of Lanka (Ceylon) Island in the Ramayana epic in Indian Mythology, is rendered invulnerable by gods or demons by Brahma and Shiva due to his atonement and devotion. Therefore, Ravana can only die because of a woman.
Rama and his brother Lakshmana cut the nose of Ravana's sister Surpanakha. Ravana also kidnaps Rama's wife Sita for revenge. At the end of the story, Ravana is killed by Rama. After Rama cuts off Ravana's head and arms, he hits him in the chest and back, causing him to fall dead to the ground. It becomes so painful that even Vishnu, hearing Ravana's cries, descends to earth.
Ravana, the son of Nikasa and Vishravas, is also the grandson of Pulastya. According to the Ramayana, Ravana, the demon, is a creature with 10 heads and 20 arms. Wearing a shiny robe decorated with pure gold and diamonds, Ravana has the appearance of a giant creature with white teeth and a big mouth. He travels in the sky with his flying car named Pushğaka.
Married to Mandodari, Ravana has 3 siblings named Kumbhakarna, Vibhisana and Shurpanakha and 7 sons named Aksa, Atikaya, Devanaka, Indracit, Narantaka, Ravani and Trishira.
