While he is a deity who has his share of all the beauties in the sky with his brother Inanna, when the management of the universe is shared, it is given to the Goddess Ereshkigal to take possession of the dead souls. She is now the goddess of darkness, who rules the underworld, determines fate, and ensures justice.

 

No creature that goes underground can return to its former life. Ereshkigal knew this, but once the command had cut the iron and the road had appeared, he resigned himself to his fate. The fate of the goddess who determines destiny changes completely when she encounters the warrior god Nergal, who is responsible for the plague and forest fires.

The gods hold a great feast, all the deities are invited, but Ereshkigal cannot leave the underworld. Ereshkigal sends Namtar as an envoy to the invitation. As soon as Namtar steps into the invitation, he bows respectfully before all the deities. Except for one: Nergal. Ereshkigal, learning of this injustice, immediately invites Nergal to his presence. Ereshkigal plans to punish for this insolence. As soon as Nergal sees Ereshkigal, he realizes that he has found the love of his life. The love that feeds on the darkness becomes the subject of legends.

Nergal has decided to go. The goddess who decides her destiny is helpless in the face of her own destiny. She roars in rage and announces to the gods: "If my loved one does not return, I will send all the dead to earth and destroy the universe."

The gods don't know what to do and they have no choice but to persuade Nergal. Nergal is persuaded on one condition: if he sits on Ereshkigal's throne. Ereshkigal agrees without hesitation. Because the soul mate will return. The throne and power do not matter. Nergal returns to the underworld, as the scorching God of the Underworld.
