THE SYMBOL THAT DOES NOT LOSE YOUR WAY: VEGVISIR -Friendz10

According to the Huld Manuscript, which was written by Geir Vigfusson in 1860 and consists mostly of spells made with runic writings, the Vegvisir symbol used in the Scandinavian geography is a talisman used to prevent the person going on a journey from getting lost. Even if the person carrying this symbol does not know the destination, he will not lose his way even if there is a storm and bad weather.

The journey referred to is not necessarily a journey by air, land or sea, but any journey, adventure or choice on one's life path.

Dr Jackson Crawford says that the vegvisir symbol was not written in runic script but was used as a talisman. It is believed to have been used by the Vikings, especially when they embarked on long and arduous sea voyages.

The Vegvisir symbol is a symbol commonly associated with Aegishjalmr. The symbol is a Viking symbol consisting of runic wands. The vegvisir, also known as the Viking compass or runic compass, is believed to guide would-be travellers and ensure a safe return home.

Viking ships carried the vegvisir as a talisman to protect the ship and its crew from perishing at sea.

The word Vegvisir is a combination of two Scandinavian words. 'vegur', meaning the way, and 'visir', meaning a signpost or guide. For this reason, the symbol is known as the 'Signpost of the Way'. Vegvisir has eight directions symbolising many paths.

The Vikings, who were great sailors, carried the vegvisir with them or tattooed it on their foreheads. Because they believed that this symbol would always lead them back home.

The current version of Vegvisir comes from three Icelandic Grimoires, books of spells and magic written in the mid-1800s. One of these, the Huld Manuscript, contains a series of magical Norse symbols. The Vegvisir is a symbol used to guide people to the right path in inclement weather. The Vegvisir is described as follows:

"The bearer of this symbol will not lose his way in storms and bad weather, even if he does not know his destination."

Two other manuscripts have similar interpretations of the symbol.

The Vikings were originally a talisman that brought guidance and safety to the voyager on the journey, returning them home. Later it became a powerful talisman for those who lack direction in life or who have lost their right direction. Vegvisir is believed to give you the guidance you seek and help you make the right choices for your life.

The symbol also reminds those who use it that on a spiritual level, they will always be guided through the twists and turns of life and will continually find that safe harbour back in themselves as their spiritual home.

Vegvisir is sometimes depicted with a circle of rune letters around it. The runes are the letters of the Viking writing system known as the runic alphabet.

As a symbol of protection and direction, the Vegvisir is still considered worthy of being worn and tattooed today. It is also a symbol that everyone can relate to, as it is not a religious symbol and has a universal meaning and significance.
