Our Moon is in the waning crescent phase, when most of the sunlight illuminates its far side, the side we cannot see directly from Earth. The waning crescent phase of the Moon is the last phase of the lunar cycle before it repeats with the "new moon" phase, during which the Moon is completely hidden from Earth's view.
