The galaxy NGC 1546, one of the first images taken since entering "one-gyro mode" last week. The galaxy's nucleus shines brilliantly with a yellowish light, indicating old stellar populations. Also noticeable are bright blue regions of active star formation among the dusty structures of the galaxy.
NASA says the Hubble Telescope will be able to continue most scientific observations in this new mode, allowing the telescope to continue its pioneering mission for many years to come.
Image description:
A galaxy in black space against a background punctuated by distant galaxies and a few foreground stars. The galaxy is slightly tilted towards us, and dark dust lanes are beautifully visible from above. When backlit by the galaxy's nucleus, this dust takes on a rust-brown hue. Bright blue regions shine through the dust, while the core emits a yellowish light. Several other galaxies can be seen in the background, including an edge-on spiral galaxy to the left of NGC 1546.
I always make the comparisons, this time it's up to you. What do you think this image looks like? I am waiting for your comments.
