SOCCER BALL OR NEBULA?

The remarkable structure of the Ring Nebula reveals the glowing remnants of a Sun-like star. The blue gas seen in the center of the nebula is part of a soccer ball-like structure that pierces through the reddish, doughnut-shaped material.

This cosmic “soccer ball” is located about 2,000 light-years from us.

SOCCER BALL OR NEBULA?

Image description:

The inner circular nebular region, which looks like a distorted doughnut, glows in deep blue tones with faint stars seen within. It is surrounded by a bright teal ring and then a reddish-orange outer ring. Dark space filled with distant, faint stars fills the background.

SOCCER BALL OR NEBULA?

I think it looks a bit like an eye, don't you?
