This cosmic landscape reveals the different stages of star birth.
The bright stars on the left are some of the most massive stars known in our universe. These stars fly the gas around them at high speeds, giving them a relatively clear appearance.
However, when this gas collides with the dense clouds around it, these clouds can collapse under their own gravity and form new stars. Another generation of stars is being born in the dark dust clouds on the right side of the image.
The nebula in this #HubbleClassic image, known as N11B, is undergoing this birth process and is located about 160,000 light-years away.
In the image, the dark brown and coppery nebula extending to the right is seen with decreasing intensity towards the left, while a small cluster of bright blue stars shines inside this nebula.
