One of the upper components of the Arp 194 galaxy group exhibits a stream of cosmic material stretching 100,000 light-years across.
The "fountain" seen in this #HubbleClassic image contains many super star clusters, each consisting of dozens of young star clusters, meaning this stream is made up of millions of stars!
These young stars are most likely the result of gravitational interactions between galaxies. Hubble's high resolution reveals that this cosmic stream is actually located in front of the lower component of Arp 194. Therefore, it is still unclear whether the upper and lower parts of the galaxy group are actually interacting with each other.
Image description:
Near the top of the image are two galactic nuclei glowing pale orange-yellow, with a smaller spiral galaxy to their right. They are surrounded by dusty spiral arms and bright blue star-forming regions. A stream of bright blue cosmic material extends downward and connects to another spiral galaxy below, also with dusty arms and blue stars. This galaxy system shines against black space.
Doesn't that look like the fish on top?
