Friday, November 15 offers the perfect opportunity to watch the fourth and last supermoon of 2024. The full moon in November is commonly known as the Beaver Moon. This name symbolizes the period when beavers fortify their dams and hoard food to prepare for winter. A supermoon occurs when the full moon reaches perigee, the closest distance to Earth. This distance is approximately 226,000 miles (364,000 kilometers). On the other hand, when the full moon is at its farthest position from Earth, about 253,000 miles (407,000 kilometers) away, this is often called a micromoon.
Image description:
A hazy, orange-red moon rises above a subway car moving so fast that it is slightly blurred in the image. The night sky is a uniform shade of a very dark blue, but a few clouds can be seen passing in front of the bright moon.

Doesn't the Super Moon look very impressive?
