Amarok, a gigantic gray wolf in Inuit mythology, is also divine. It hunts alone at night. He follows the Eskimo natives and abducts them and eats them.
Amarok hunts alone, not in packs like wolves.
Among the Amarok legends, the most well-known is an indigenous story. A child who is constantly excluded and despised in the village wants to increase his power and calls out to the master of power. Appearing in front of the boy, Amarok wrestles with the boy using only his tail. Even though the boy's bones are broken, he does not give up wrestling with Amarok. Amarok is impressed by the boy's determination and tells the boy to come and wrestle every day. The boy goes to wrestle with Amarok every day. After a few days, the boy is strong enough to take down the three big bears. With this power, he gains the respect of the villagers.
In another legend; A man whose relatives were killed by Amarok grieves. When he hears a rumor that Amarok has been seen, he sets out to look for him. But he does not find Amarok, but his offspring. Burning with vengeance, he kills Amarok's cubs.
After killing the cubs, the man hides in a cave. Amarok comes hunted. He realizes that his cubs were killed while he was going to feed the prey. Amarok goes to the nearby lake and pulls out a human form in the lake. As Amarok does this, the man collapses to the ground and his soul leaves his body.
