There is a cognitive dissonance between our scientific progress and how our societies function and evolve.”

Millions of books are published in the US alone each year, which means billions of individual copies, and the majority of them end up in the landfills. Kilgast draws attention to these discarded objects, giving new life to vintage prints. As a vivid reminder of the impact humans have on the environment and nature's stability, he constructs delicate mushrooms, blooming flowers and colorful corals in elaborate miniature settings.
