Clay artist Michelle Petersen paints polymer clay, acrylic paint, wood, stone, etc. Using the Nature Spirit sculpture experiment, he begins on a whim with a block of polymer clay. Satisfied with the result, the artist alternates between two-dimensional art and sculpture. But the focus shifts primarily to miniature sculpture. Because she includes objects such as stones, seashells, wood, pine cones and acorns that she finds in nature.

In Michelle Petersen's own words;
“I love the idea of creating physical creatures that you can hold in your hand that look like something someone might have found in the woods, a little nature spirit. It allows people to bring a little weirdness and wildness into their homes.”
